Today's Game
This afternoon, the Bisons face the Rochester Red Wings in the rubber match of their three game set at Frontier Field (1:35 p.m.). It won't be long until the Thruway rivals meet again as they will play a three-game set at Coca-Cola Field after Monday's off-day. The Bisons have won four of their last six games and are 7-6 on the road this season.
Last Game (BUF 10, ROC 2)
The Bisons batted around twice, scoring five runs in the second inning and four in the fourth in a 10-2 win over Rochester. C Tony Sanchez had a single and two doubles and drove in a pair. OF Domonic Brown collected three RBI. RHP Dustin Antolin made a spot start for the Herd and struck out five of the 11 batters he faced.
vs. Rochester (2-2)
After Buffalo and Rochester traded 2-1 wins last week at Coca-Cola Field, the clubs have now swapped blowout victories. Rochester claimed the 8-3 win on Friday with the Herd winning 10-2 yesterday. These teams will meet 19 this season, two more than in 2015.
Scott Diamond
LHP Scott Diamond will make his fourth start of the season today. The southpaw is coming off his first loss of the year, allowing six runs (four earned) in 4.2 innings Tuesday in Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. The start before that, Diamond defeated the Red Wings with seven innings of one-run baseball in the Herd's Home Opener on April 14. No stranger to Frontier Field, Diamond was 16-22 with a 5.01 ERA and 182 strikeouts in 52 career games as a Red Wing from 2011-2014.
Matt Dominguez
INF Matt Dominguez has five multi-hit performances during a seven-game hit streak that began on April 17. During the stretch, Dominguez has averaged .500 (14-28) with three doubles, two home runs, 10 RBI and five runs scored. His 13RBI on the season are tied for 2nd in the IL.
Bisons Bits
DH Jesus Montero brings a Bisons' season-high eight-game hit streak into today's game. Since April 15, the slugger has averaged .324 (11-34) with three doubles, five RBI and four runs scored...INF Andy Burns is one of four IL hitters with six doubles on the season...INF Alexi Casilla has averaged .476 (10-21) over his five-game hit streak.
Roster Shuffle
On Friday, LHP Chad Girodo had his contract selected by the Blue Jays. He made his MLB debut that night and tossed two scoreless innings. He has been optioned back to the Bisons as the Blue Jays have recalled RHP Drew Hutchison to start for them today against Oakland. In-between LHP Colt Hynes was summoned from New Hampshire (AA), earning the win for the Herd yesterday with 2.2 innings of relief.
Blue Jays Update
The Blue Jays (9-10) defeated Oakland, 9-3, on Saturday thanks in large part to a pair of home runs from SS Troy Tulowitzki. 3B Josh Donaldson also clubbed his seventh of the year and drove in four in a three-hit day. LHP J.A. Happ improved to 3-0 by allowing three runs over seven innings. Toronto hosts Oakland again this afternoon at 1:07 p.m.
