Today's Game
This afternoon, the Bisons host the Rochester Red Wings in the finale of a three-game series at Coca-Cola Field (1:05 p.m.). First up, four games at Lehigh Valley, followed by a three-game series at Pawtucket.
Last Game: ROC 2, BUF 1
RHP Joe Biagini worked six innings, but surrendered a pair of runs in the Bisons loss to Rochester on Tuesday. Biagini was saddled with his third defeat of the season while giving up four hits, while striking out four batters. C Danny Jansen collected two more hits and drove in the Herd's lone run in the fourth inning. RHP Danny Barnes pitched an inning of scoreless relief in his first appearance with the Bisons in 2018.
Today's Starter: RHP Deck McGuire
RHP Deck McGuire is making his fifth start for the Bisons and is in search of his third victory in 2018. The right hander received a no decision for the first time this year in his last start on May 4 vs. Syracuse. McGuire joined the Blue Jays' organization for the second time in his career when he signed as a free agent this past offseason. He was a 1st Round pick by the franchise in 2010 as well.
Rochester (0-2)
The Bisons and Red Wings are squaring off for the first time this season due to inclement weather conditions forcing them to postpone their earlier meetings at Frontier Field. The teams will meet a total of 17 games this season, with Buffalo heading to Frontier Field May 25th-28th for a six-game series.
Danny Jansen
C Danny Jansen went 2-3 at the plate in the Bisons' loss on Tuesday. He extended his on-base streak to six straight ball games, despite not collecting a base hit in the opening game of the series. Jansen walked twice on Monday. His batting average stands at .319 entering play today.
Bisons Bits
The Bisons are now 3-4 in one run ballgames this season...The fourth inning continues to be a bright spot for the Herd. They have scored 18 runs in the fourth this season, second only to the sixth inning, where they have scored 21 runs...Buffalo has hit just one home run in the month of May, since Darnell Sweeney's HR on 5/3. The team hit 14 in April...The Bisons have already secured their first winning homestand of the season by going 4-0 against Syracuse. They are 4-2, with Wednesday's tilt remaining.
Transactions
SS Richard Urena and RHP Jake Petricka were recalled by the Blue Jays on Tuesday, prior to first pitch. As a result, INF Gift Ngoepe was activated to the Bisons' roster and RHP Conor Fisk was assigned to Buffalo from New Hampshire (Double-A).
Blue Jays Update
Toronto (19-17) was no-hit on Tuesday by British Columbia native James Paxton in their 5-0 loss to the Seattle Mariners. It was the first time that a native Canadian threw a no-hitter on home soil, and just the second overall for any Canadian pitcher. The Blue Jays and Mariners will play game two of their three game series tonight (7:07 p.m.) Ex-Bison Wade LeBlanc will start for Seattle.
