DURHAM, NC - Behind an early three-run lead and an insurance home run from Curt Casali, the Durham Bulls took down the Norfolk Tides 5-2 Wednesday night at the DBAP.

Starter Austin Pruitt worked a clean 3.0 innings, holding the Tides to two hits with three strikeouts in his first start of the season.

The bullpen supported Pruitt, as Hunter Wood allowed two runs on two hits over two innings. Jaime Schultz (W, 1-1) struck out two over his 1.0 inning, and Diego Castillo fanned two and allowed one hit but held the one-run lead in the seventh inning.

Clinging to a 3-2 lead in the eighth, Casali hit a two-run home run giving the Bulls the insurance runs they needed, extending the lead to 5-2.

Ian Gibaut (S, 1) struck out the side in the eighth and closed the door in the ninth, clinching the victory and moving the Bulls back into first place in the South Division. He has struck out 22 batters over 15.1 innings this season, dropping his ERA to 1.17.
