Today's Game

This afternoon, the Buffalo Bisons close out their four-game series with the Lehigh Valley IronPigs at Coca-Cola Park. It is the last trip to Allentown, PA for the Bisons in the 2018 season. Following the series, Buffalo will return to Coca-Cola Field to play host to the Norfolk Tides and Durham Bulls July 16-22. The last time the Bisons played the two teams was April 20-25 while on the road.

Last Game: BUF 3, LHV 5

LHP Thomas Pannone surrendered three home runs to the IronPigs to take his first defeat since joining the Herd. INF Ryan Goins led off the bottom of the first inning with a solo home run, while 3B Mitch Walding and C Nick Rickles each added two-run HRs in the win. Pannone lasted 6.1IP, giving up 11 hits while striking out eight. All three of the Bisons' runs came in the seventh, with INF/OF Darnell Sweeney collecting his 25th RBI of the season.

Lehigh Valley (3-9)

The Bisons and IronPigs last played on June 22-24 in Buffalo. Lehigh Valley took the first two games of the series, and Sunday's game was rained out (6/24). Following this series, the two teams will meet again in Buffalo for a four-game series July 30-31, August 1-2. The Herd did not win in Allentown in 2017, but notched a 2-2 split in Lehigh Valley June 11-13. C Reese McGuire is batting .321 (9-28) in nine games against the IronPigs this season.

Today's Starter: RHP Nick Tepesch

RHP Nick Tepesch is making his sixth start, and eighth overall appearance for the Bisons this season. The right hander began the year with New Hampshire, and is still in search of his first Triple-A win this season. Tepesch was 2-0 in four starts with Buffalo last season after being acquired from the Minnesota Twins organization. Overall in 2018, he is 1-6 with a 5.59ERA.

Jonathan Davis

OF Jonathan Davis led the Bisons' offense with three hits in the loss on Saturday night. One of his hits came in the top of the seventh inning t plate his second RBI in as many days for the Herd. Davis was hitting .302 with 33RBI and 19SB in 77 games for New Hampshire (AA) before being promoted to Buffalo.

Transactions

Prior to Saturday's contest, the Toronto Blue Jays selected the contract of RHP Chris Rowley, while C Danny Jansen was placed on the Temporary Inactive List (MLB Futures Game), and 1B Rowdy Tellez was activated from the TI as well.

Bisons' Bits

OF Roemon Fields is toed for the International League lead in stolen bases with 22 (Kevin Newman - Indianapolis)...Buffalo has outscored opponents 40-28 in the first inning. That has been key to the Herd's success, as they are 33-1 when scoring first...The Herd has won four games in July, going 4-5. They are just about halfway to July 2017's win total when the team was 9-18.

Blue Jays Update

Toronto (43-51) could not hold on against the Boston Red Sox on Saturday. Boston tied the game in the bottom of the ninth inning, and a Xander Bogaerts grand slam won the game 6-2 in the tenth inning. The Jays head into the All-Star break with ex-Bison RHP Marcus Stroman on the hill facing LHP Brian Johnson (1:05 p.m.). After today, Toronto and MLB will be off through Thursday.
