Lehigh Valley IronPigs News Release
The IronPigs slugged another five home runs on Sunday to dominate the Buffalo Bisons 8-0 at Coca-Cola Park. It's another series win for the Pigs, having not lost a set in a month. Lehigh Valley hit a total of 13 home runs in the four-game series.
It's the seventh win in the last eight games for the Pigs (55-37), who maintain a 6.5 lead in the IL North Division.
The afternoon started with Ranger Suarez (1-0) picking up his first start in over two weeks since a slight injury at Rochester. Suarez tossed five scoreless frames while allowing only four hits en route to his first Triple-A victory. Luis Garcia, on a Good Shepherd rehab assignment, along with Zac Curtis and Tyler Gilbert blanked the Bisons the rest of the way.
While Suarez accumulated scoreless innings, the Pigs' offensive never let up on Nick Tepesh (0-5).
Mitch Walding and Dylan Cozens opened the scoring in the first inning with a pair of two-run home runs, and each later followed up a solo home run later in the game. Adron Chambers added the rest of the offense for Lehigh Valley with his first home run of the season in the fourth inning. The center fielder drove in the eighth run of the game with a single in the fifth inning.
The Pigs will hit the road for the first time in nearly two weeks tomorrow when they visit the Columbus Clippers to start a six-game road trip through the IL West Division. First pitch from Huntington Park will come at 7:05 p.m. as Cole Irvin, who started the All-Star Game in the same ballpark last week, takes the mound. The Pigs will not return to Coca-Cola Park until July 24 when they welcome the Gwinett Stripers.
The 2018 Season is the IronPigs' 11th season at Coca-Cola Park and 11th as the top affiliate of the Philadelphia Phillies. Fans can get closer to the team than ever before with a Bacon, USA membership -- a year-round IronPigs experience pass featuring numerous amenities such as savings on parking at games and at the Majestic Clubhouse Store at Coca-Cola Park, on-field VIP access to watch batting practice, access to the annual holiday party, and more.
