For the second time in six days, Rochester's Logan Darnell picked up a win against his thru-way rivals.

The 2010, sixth-round draft pick kept Buffalo batters off-balance for nine innings Thursday afternoon at Coca-Cola Field, improving his record to 3-1 with a 4-0 victory.

Darnell spread four hits and four walks out enough to go the distance, picking up his first shutout since August 24th of last season. The only flaw in the start from the University of Kentucky product, if you can call it that, was that he failed to record a strikeout.

"I think the first time we faced him he had an ERA of seven-something, and now we've got him in the low threes," said Gary Allenson following the game. "Hopefully the next time we play these guys, he'll be in Minnesota."

The third-year Bisons manager also noted that his batters should have taken a new approach against the lefty.

"If at some point you can't stay back and you're chasing stuff and you're out in front, then you've got to make a physical adjustment. Move up in the batter's box. Make him pitch differently."

Only one member of the Herd made it to third base and it only lasted for a moment. Following a walk, David Adams advanced to third on a bloop single into left off of the bat of Jio Mier. The stay ended on the same play as Mier was thrown out trying to stretch his hit into a double.

Darnell's former university teammate, Andy Burns, went 0-for-4 on the day and explained what made his Kentucky brethren so difficult to deal with over the past week.

"He's kept us off-balance and he's getting us to swing at what he wants us to swing at," said the third baseman.

"He just executed pitches. We need to do a better job making adjustments and I think if we see him again we'll do that."

Starter Chris Leroux took the loss while fanning a season-best five batters. The native of Montreal allowed six hits, issued one walk and was charged with one earned run out of the two scored against him.

Rochester's first run came in the top of the second on a solo blast from Stephen Wickens that stayed just inside of the left-field foul pole.

The Red Wings added another in the sixth. Wilfredo Tovar made it aboard with an infield single and advanced to third when Leroux's pickoff attempt sailed down the right-field line into the Bisons' bullpen. He then crossed home on Adam Walker's single to right.

The Wings tacked on some late insurance.

Byrun Buxton scored in the eighth on a groundout. An inning later, Walker was chauffeured home on a Darin Mastroianni sac fly.
