Biscuits Turn the Tables on Tennessee 8-4

MONTGOMERY, A.L. -The Smokies (2-2, 34-40) blow an early four run lead to Montgomery (2-2, 35-39) and fall 8-4, at Riverwalk Stadium in Montgomery Thursday Night. Cesar Suarez belted a sixth innings two-run homer and the Biscuits never looked back

Aneury Rodriguez (4-8) had a good showing after watching Tennessee score four runs in the top of the first. He ended up allowing three earned runs on five hits. Rodriguez pitched 6 innings with three walks and six strikeouts.

Hung-Wen Chen (3-6) started for Tennessee but was an able to hold on the early lead. Chen pitched 5.1 innings allowing five hits and five runs. He also walked two with six strikeouts in the loss.

The Smokies got some early offence in the top of the first inning and took a 4-0 lead before Montgomery had a chance to bat. Tyler Colvin and Ty Wright both had runs scoring hits for Tennessee. The Biscuits aided the Smokies effort by committing two errors.

Brandon Chaves singled with one down and scored on Fernando Cortez triple. Then Cortez crossed the plate when Cesar Suarez grounded out to third making the score 4-2.

The Biscuits chipped away with a fifth inning run thanks to a RBI single from Pedro Powell.

Cesar Suarez then completed the comeback by smacking a two-run homerun giving Montgomery a 5-4 lead. The Biscuits then added two more runs in the inning and went ahead 7-4.

Tennessee is back at Smokies Park for a 6-game home stand starting Sunday June 28th. The series will be against the First Half Northern Division winners and Milwaukee Brewers affiliate Huntsville Stars.
