Plantier, Jaxx staff to lead SL North All-Stars

MARIETTA, GA - The Southern League of Professional Baseball Clubs has announced the coaching staffs and umpiring crew for the 2009 Southern League All-Star Game scheduled for July 13 at Regions Park in Birmingham, AL. The Southern League selected the staff of the host Birmingham Barons to coach the South Division and the staff of the West Tenn Diamond Jaxx to lead the North Division.

PHIL PLANTIER - WEST TENN DIAMOND JAXX

Former Major League Baseball veteran Phil Plantier has been chosen to manage the North Division in the 2009 Southern League All-Star Game. Plantier, who had 91 home runs and 292 RBI in eight major league seasons, is in his second year on the West Tenn coaching staff. Last season, as hitting coach, Plantier guided the first half North Division champion Diamond Jaxx to a .266 team batting average, which ranked third in the league. In 2007, Plantier led the South Coast League's Macon Music to a 58-31 overall record in his first managerial season.

Joining Plantier at the All-Star Game will be Diamond Jaxx Pitching Coach Tom Dettore, Hitting Coach Terry Pollreisz and Trainer Matt Toth.
