Montgomery Biscuits News Release
CHATTANOOGA, Ten. - The Biscuits (2-1) suffered their first defeat of the 2019 season, falling in a heartbreaker to the Chattanooga Lookouts (1-2), 6-5, on Saturday night at AT&T Field.
The Biscuits, who had started the season 2-0 for just the third time in their history, looked good early, striking first with back-to-back RBI-singles by Jesus Sanchez and Tristan Gray to make it 2-0 Montgomery in the top of the first.
Biscuit starter Kenny Rosenberg, who was making his Double-A debut, worked around a bases-loaded jam in the first, but allowed an RBI-single to Cassidy Brown as well as a three-run homer to Taylor Trammell in the second, the four-spot putting the Lookouts up 4-2.
Montgomery would battle back in the sixth, however, after starter Scott Moss yielded to Victor Payano, who served up an RBI-single to Lucius Fox. A Payano wild pitch, and some aggressive baserunning by Thomas Milone tied the game at four, before a Gray solo home run in the seventh handed the Biscuits their lead back at 5-4.
After Blake Bivens fired in two impressive scoreless innings, Matt Krook (0-1) entered, and after putting runners on second and third, allowed a pesky infield single off the bat of TJ Friedl to tie the game at five. The next batter was Jose Siri, and the Lookouts center fielder broke his bat on a roller up the middle that snuck under Gray's glove and gave Chattanooga the lead for good.
The Biscuits will try to bounce back and win the series on Sunday afternoon when an opener and RHP Ricardo Pinto take on Jordan Johnson at 1:15 PM CT.
The Biscuits return to Riverwalk Stadium for a five-game home stand against the Biloxi Shuckers on Wednesday, April 10 for Opening Night presented by Chick-Fil-A featuring Dueling Pianos and MAX Fireworks. The home stand will also feature a Club Car Bar T-Shirt giveaway on Thursday, April 11, Teacher Appreciation Night and MAX Fireworks on Friday, April 12, Mardi Gras Night and MAX Fireworks on Saturday April 13, and Jackie Robinson Day featuring a Kids T-Shirt Giveaway presented by AKD.
