LAST GAME: The Jackson Generals suffered their first defeat as defending champions on Friday, falling 2-1 to the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp in twelve innings. Jacksonville (1-1) evened the series with sharp pitching, holding the Generals (1-1) scoreless for the game's last eight frames. Right-hander Emilio Vargas made his first start of the year for Jackson, tossing five innings while allowing only one run on one hit to the Jumbo Shrimp. An RBI double from outfielder Marcus Wilson in the top of the fourth plated Jazz Chisholm with the night's first run. Wilson's RBI was his third in two nights, but it would prove to be the only tally for the visitors, who went 2-for-20 with men in scoring position and managed only one extra-base hit. Second baseman Andy Young recorded the only multi-hit night, collecting a double and two singles from the leadoff spot.

TODAY'S PITCHING MATHCUP: Bo Takahashi gets the ball for game 2 against Jacksonville. The last time he started, he helped Jackson take down the Montgomery Biscuits in Game 5 of the North Division Series to advance to the League Championship Series....For Jacksonville, Dustin Beggs will go for the pivot-game victory. Beggs, a former Kentucky Wildcat, excelled at Low-A, High-A, and Double-A last year. In four starts with the Shrimp, he pitched to a 1.44 ERA.

THREE HITS, NO COMPANY: Andy Young rapped out 3 hits last night, marking the first General with a 3-hit game in 2019. He collected 3+ hits 11 times last year, but last night, he was the only one in the lineup with multiple knocks.
