Sioux Falls Canaries News Release

LINCOLN, Neb. - The Sioux Falls Canaries dropped the final game of their two-week road trip at Lincoln 4-2 on Sunday night. The Birds led 2-1 after five innings, but a couple Canary errors proved costly in the defeat.

Clint Coulter, starting at catcher for the first time as a Canary, went 4-for-4 with a solo home run in the second.

Birds starter Tyler Herron went seven innings for the third time in as many starts as a Bird. He allowed four runs (two earned) on nine hits, walking one and striking out five.

The Birds return home Monday night for a rivalry matchup with Sioux City at 7 p.m.

Lincoln opened the scoring on a Curt Smith sacrifice fly in the first inning, and Coulter's homer tied things at one in the top of the second. It was Coulter's 13 home run of the season and 50th RBI.

The Birds took a 2-1 lead in the fifth with help from some small ball. Burt Reynolds reached on a bunt single, took off for second as soon as Lincoln starter Ricky Knapp came set, then took third after Knapp's throw was off-line.

Lincoln scored the final three runs of the game, two on late Sioux Falls errors.
