The series heads to Saturday with both teams winning two games

The Myrtle Beach Pelicans were shut down by the Salem Red Sox in a 7-0 loss on Friday night. The Birds' second loss of the series dropped their record to 9-15 while the Red Sox improved to 11-14.

Cristian Hernandez (2-3) accounted for half of Myrtle Beach's hits with a pair of singles. Christian Olivo (1-4, 2B) tallied the only extra-base hit of the game for the Pelicans with a double in the opening frame. The Pelicans struck out 12 times in Friday's loss.

Starter Marino Santy (0-1) gave up a home run to his first batter and took the loss with five of his seven runs allowed being earned off seven hits and two walks. The bullpen quieted Salem down the rest of the way with no runs allowed after the fourth inning.

Nazzan Zanetello (2-2, HR, RBI, BB) homered in the Red Sox's first at bat to start the scoring. Miguel Bleis (3-3, 2B, RBI, BB) reached base four times and brought home a run in the victory. Natanael Yuten (2-3, 3B, 2 RBI, BB) hit a two-run triple in the first to lead the team with a pair of RBI.

Friday's win went to Jedixson Paez (1-1) with five shutout innings and seven strikeouts. The bullpen held the Birds hitless in the final four innings.

The fifth game of the series is set for Saturday evening at 6:05 P.M.
