Dayton Gems News Release

DAYTON, OH - The Dayton Gems won two of their three home games over the weekend, giving fans in the stands much to cheer about.

On Friday, Dayton defeated Evansville in a thrilling 6-5 game that was decided in a shootout. The Gems then claimed a huge 8-0 win over Fort Wayne on Sunday.

But it wasn't just the wins that made the fans cheer.

Over the weekend, the Dayton Gems handed out over $2,000 in cash and prizes to fans and donations to charity.

On Saturday night, a local elementary student won $700 cash. The youngster was the only fan in attendance to toss a foam puck from his seat and into a bucket at center ice.

Liz Crouse was a big winner on Sunday. The 28-year-old from Troy won a laptop after the Dayton Gems scored their seventh goal of the game. Systemax sponsored the laptop that was given away. In each home game that the Gems score seven or more goals, Systemax gives away a laptop to one lucky fan in attendance. Systemax and Microsoft Windows 7 are the Official Technology Partners of the Dayton Gems.

Sunday was the second time this season a fan has won a free laptop.

In addition to the giveaways, local organizations were also able to raise more than $900 through fundraisers with the Dayton Gems.

Northmoor Elementary sold more than 100 tickets and profited nearly $600 for their school. Wright State's March of Dimes and the University of Dayton's Habitat for Humanity were able to raise more than $300 between the two of them for their organizations.

The Kettering Medical Center is proud to be the official title sponsor of the Gems for the 2010-11 season.
