Texas Stars News Release
SAN ANTONIO, Texas - A four-goal outburst in the second period for the San Antonio Rampage was the difference on Tuesday in a 5-3 daytime win over the Texas Stars in front of 5,617 at AT&T Center.
Devin Shore scored his team-leading ninth of the season for the Stars (8-6-0-1) early in the third to put Texas on the board. Reid Petryk put the final touch on San Antonio's (9-1-4-0) big period with a shorthanded goal late in the second to make it a 5-0 lead.
The Stars return home to face Charlotte at 7:30 p.m. on Friday at Cedar Park Center.
Duncan Siemens opened up the game's scoring at 14:22 of the first when his point shot deflected off a Texas stick and past Jack Campbell for a 1-0 score.
San Antonio's big second period started at 4:35 with Andrew Agozzino's seventh of the season. Michael Schumacher then added another goal in front at 9:31 and Marc-Andre Cliche drilled a slap shot from the right circle past Campbell 20 seconds later to make it 3-0 before Petryk's tally.
After Shore put the Stars on the board early in the third, Matt Mangene added his first of the season off a loose puck on the doorstep at 8:02.
John Muse came on to start the third in relief of Campbell, who suffered the loss with 22 saves. Muse stopped both shots he faced in the third and San Antonio's Spencer Martin earned his second straight win with 22 saves also.
The Stars finished 1-for-6 on the power play. The Rampage went 0-for-5.
The Texas Stars are the primary development affiliate of the NHL's Dallas Stars and currently in their seventh season at Cedar Park Center.
