HICKORY, NC - Marcus Lee Sang had two hits and drew two walks but the BlueClaws were blanked by Hickory, 4-0 on Wednesday afternoon at LP Frans Stadium.

The BlueClaws (9-10) fell back below .500 with the loss, though they've still won seven of their last nine games. It was the first time they've been shutout this season. The Crawdads improved to 11-10 with the win.

Hickory opened the bottom of the first with four straight hits off starter Gunner Mayer (0-1). Max Acosta's single started the scoring and they added a second run when Jayce Easley walked with the bases loaded.

The Crawdads didn't score again until the seventh, when they plated two off Tristan Garnett. The first scored on a wild pitch and Alejandro Osuna picked up an RBI on a groundout.

Crawdads starter Larson Kindreich struck out six over four scoreless innings. Winning pitcher Seth Clark (1-0) threw two scoreless innings, as did Andy Rodriguez. Michael Brewer completed the shutout with a scoreless ninth inning.

Lee Sang went 2-2 with two walks and stole his fifth base of the season.

Carlos Betancourt threw two scoreless innings in relief.

The teams continue their series on Thursday night at 7:00. LHP Matt Osterberg starts for Jersey Shore.
