Big 7th Inning the Difference in Monarchs' Loss

ROSEMONT, Ill. - The Kansas City Monarchs' recent hot streak hit a bump in the road on Friday.
Micker Adolfo homered to give Kansas City the lead in the fifth, but a four-run seventh powered the Chicago Dogs to victory in the opener of a three-game series from Impact Field.
The loss drops the Monarchs to 21-10, snapping a 7-game winning streak. They remain in first place in the American Association West, 1.5 games ahead of Fargo-Moorhead.
Luke Mangieri was a triple shy of the cycle for the Dogs, finishing 3-for-4 with a homer and two RBIs.
The Dogs took a 2-0 lead in the fourth on an RBI double by Mangieri.
Adolfo's home run came in the fifth to straightaway center field. It was the third home run of the year for the Monarchs right fielder, and put Kansas City up 3-2.
Monarchs starter Dalton Moats threw five innings, allowing two runs on four hits. He walked two and struck out five.
The Dogs scored all four of their runs in the seventh before the first out was recorded. Mangieri led off the inning with his sixth home run of the season to make it a 3-3 game.
After Cody Bohanek was hit with a pitch, Ben Livorsi drove him in with a go-ahead double.
One batter later, Matt Bottcher hit a two-run homer, his second of the year. That put Chicago up 6-3.
The Monarchs rallied in the eighth, getting runners to second and third with none out. Though Chris Herrmann drove in a run with a ground ball to the right side, that was all Kansas City pushed across in the inning.
Brian Schlitter got the four-out save for Chicago, getting Justin Wylie to fly out to the warning track in center with a man on second to end the game.

Kansas City will look to level the series Saturday night with a big-time pitching matchup on tap. Former Dog Jalen Miller gets the ball for the Monarchs, fresh off of seven shutout innings against Winnipeg in his last outing. Tyler Palm, May's American Association Pitcher of the Month, will get the ball for Chicago. First pitch is set for 6 p.m. Central time.
