Clinton LumberKings News Release

Clinton, IA - Clinton LumberKings starter Kyle Rogers continued his fifth inning struggles Tuesday night, allowing five runs in the sixth inning in an 11-4 loss to the Beloit Snappers.

Rogers (L, 0-4), whose sixth inning ERA is 23.62 through 2 2/3 innings, loaded the bases to start the inning. RBI singles by Tarrence Patterson and Paul Kelly and a sac-fly off the bat of Josh Land tallied three runs against Rogers, who was chased after getting just one out in the sixth. L-Kings reliever Juan Carlos Garcia came on, allowing two inherited runners to score, both earned by Rogers.

On the night, Rogers allowed seven earned runs in 5 1/3 innings, walking two and striking out four. Garcia and reliever J.B. Diaz each allowed a run in relief for the LumberKings.

Beloit's Erik Lis led a 14-hit attack for the Snappers with a 3-for-6 night at the plate, including a run scored and two RBI's.

Jose Vallejo continued his hot hitting at Alliant Energy Field, going 3-for-4 with three runs scored. John Mayberry singled to extend his hitting streak to six games.

Beloit starter Brian Duensing (W, 2-1) pitched a solid six innings, allowing two earned runs on six hits with a strikeout. The bullpen trio of Danny Vais, Frank Mata and Jose Lugo combined to three-hit the LumberKings over the final three innings.

The LumberKings and Snappers continue their four-game series tomorrow night at Alliant Energy Field. Lefthander Zach Phillips gets the start for the L-Kings against fellow lefty Ryan Mullins for Beloit. The first pitch is scheduled for 6:00 pm.
