Badenhop goes the distance in win

PEORIA, IL - Burke Badenhop pitched the first nine inning complete game of the season for the Whitecaps in a 6-1 win at Peoria. Badenhop allowed five hits but no walks and struck out five to earn the victory and improve to 4-0.

Mike Hollimon launched his team-leading 4th home run of the season in the top of the fourth inning. The two-out two-run blast made the lead 2-0. Hollimon finished the game 3-for-4.

The only Chiefs run of the game came on a solo home run by Mark Reed in the second inning.

After the homer, Badenhop retired seven betters in a row. Badenhop also set down ten in a row before the Chiefs put together back-to-back two-out hits in the ninth.

Matt Joyce went 2-for-5 with two runs scored and his team-leading 27th RBI.

Dusty Ryan, Jeramy Laster and Cory Middleton also had RBI hits for West Michigan.

Off the Charts: Midwest League leading hitter Paul Janish of the Dayton Dragons was batting a .398 clip but has been promoted by the Reds to Sarasota of the Florida State League. As a result, Whitecaps outfielder Cameron Maybin is third on the Midwest League's active list with a .330 average.

Early Morning: Due to weather and scheduling issues, the Whitecaps have not taken batting practice since last Wednesday, but are expected to do so before they face Peoria at 11 a.m. local time on Wednesday. Below are the expected pitching match ups for the rest of the series:
