
Bello Fans 10 Batters in Sea Dogs Fourth-Straight Win

BINGHAMTON, NY - The Portland Sea Dogs won their fourth-straight with the 4-1 victory over the Binghamton Rumble Ponies on Friday night at Mirabito Staidum. Despite the Rumble Ponies carrying a no-hitter to the sixth inning, the Sea Dogs broke it up with a home run by Tanner Nishioka and were able to hold onto the lead despite a ninth-inning threat by Binghamton.
In his second start of the season, Brayan Bello tossed 5.1 innings allowing one run on two hits while walking one and striking out a season-high 10 batters. Tyler Olson was given the win pitching 1.0 perfect inning with one strikeout. Oscar De La Cruz was given the loss tossing 6.2 innings allowing two runs on four hits while walking one and striking out five.
After retiring the first six batters he faced, Brayan Bello gave up a lead-off home run to Will Toffey and the Rumble Ponies led 1-0 in the third inning.
Tanner Nishioka smashed his second home run of the season in the top of the sixth inning to tie the game, 1-1 and break up De La Cruz's no-hitter.
In the top of the eighth inning, Nishioka lined a lead-off single to right field then advanced to second on a sacrifice bunt by Grant Williams. Triston Casas then singled him home and the Sea Dogs extended their lead, 3-1. Joey Meneses then drove a deep RBI double to right centerfield allowing Casas to score and the Sea Dogs continued to lead, 4-1.
The Sea Dogs and Rumble Ponies meet for the penultimate game of the series tomorrow, Saturday June 19 at 6:35pm. RHP Andrew Politi (1-5, 6.95 ERA) will be on the mound for Portland while Binghamton will send RHP Luc Renni (0-3, 8.28 ERA) to the bump.
