Bridgewater, New Jersey - The Somerset Patriots (26-13), powered by Luke Voit, defeated the Richmond Flying Squirrels (21-19), 8-1 before a season-high 7,011 fans at TD Bank Ballpark on Friday night.

Voit went 3-for-4 with three RBI, including two on a towering home run (1) to right center field in the bottom of the sixth inning. He added a two-run double and three runs scored.

"Those guys are big league. He's going to make adjustments," Patriots manager Julio Mosquera said after the game. "It's good to see him hit the ball hard today."

The Patriots put up 11 hits on the night, including three by Oswaldo Cabrera and two by Oswald Peraza.

In his return to Somerset, Thomas Milone homered (4) in a 2-for-4 night with two runs scored.

Jansen Junk (W, 2-1) continued to dominate, giving up a run on one hit and four strikeouts through six innings. JP Sears came in to relieve Junk and threw three shutout innings with seven strikeouts. The two combined to hold Richmond to just three hits.

The Patriots and the Flying Squirrels continue the series on Saturday night with a 7:05 pm game at TD Bank Ballpark.
