Salt Lake Bees News Release

SALT LAKE CITY (April 21, 2015) - The Salt Lake Bees captured their second victory in two days with an 11-inning, 6-5 win in walk-off fashion over the Fresno Grizzlies at Smith's Ballpark Tuesday night. The Bees entered the ninth with a one run lead, but allowed the visitors to knot the score at 3-3 to force extra innings. The score remained locked until Fresno captured struck with a two run 11th inning. Roger Kieschnick got the Bees going with a one-out single in the bottom of the inning and Alfredo Marte and Marc Krauss followed with a base knock a piece to drive in a run. On an 0-2 count with two outs Ryan Wheeler smashed a single with runners on the corners to drive the tying run across the plate. After a wild throw from the outfield Krauss scored from third to give the Bees the victory.

"That guy threw really hard. I was kind of ready for everything," said Wheeler. "He had just blown a 95 mile-per-hour fast ball right by me. The last pitch was a slider. I think it was six inches off the ground. I swung and found a hole."

Salt Lake starter Alex Sanabia snapped back from a pair of shaky starts with a six inning, two-run outing. Frank Herrmann (1-0) collected the win and James Hoyt (0-1) was given the blow save and the loss. Kieschnick, Wheeler and Marte each went 3-for-5 to lead the Bees offense.

The Bees are back tomorrow with the current home stand running through April 24. All games are slated to begin at 6:35 p.m. Wednesday will feature $1 hotdog night, Thursday is Thirsty Thursday with $2.75 drinks and Friday will be Matt Shoemaker beard beanies giveaway night to cap off the home set.
