Alcantara Activated for Wednesday. Jokisch Placed on 7-Day DL

DES MOINES, Iowa (April 22, 2015) - Infielder Arismendy Alcantara has been activated and will be in uniform (#3) for today's game against the New Orleans Zephyrs. The Dominican speedster was optioned to Iowa by Chicago on Tuesday. To make room for Alcantara, left-hander Eric Jokisch has been placed on the 7-day disabled list, retroactive to April 19.

Alcantara hit .077 (2-for-26) with five runs scored and one RBI in 11 games for Chicago to begin the season. The 23-year-old hit .307 in 89 games for Iowa in 2014 and led the Pacific Coast League with 11 triples en route to PCL Mid-Season and Post-Season All-Star honors.

Jokisch has made two starts for Iowa this season, going 0-0 with a 4.32 ERA (4ER/8.1IP).

The I-Cubs will host the New Orleans Zephyrs in game two of a four-game set on Wednesday, with a first pitch set for 12:08 p.m. CT at Principal Park. Right hander Tsuyoshi Wada (0-1, 1.93) will make his second rehab start for Iowa, opposite Zephyrs left-hander Adam Conley (1-1, 5.25). The game can be heard live on AM 940, 104.5 FM, and live streamed at Iowacubs.com. The On-Deck Circle Pre-game Show will begin 11:40 a.m. CT.
