Burlington Bees News Release
Put up ten runs, throw in ten hits, five for extra bases, six walks, blend a little three hit performance from Hector Yan and you have a pretty good formula for winning. That is the way it went for Burlington in the opener of a three-game set in Beloit.
The Bees beat the Snappers 10-4 on Tuesday night. It was their second win in a row. Kevin Maitan had two triples and scored twice. Alex Olmeda had two hits and two runs batted in. Justin Jones hit his third homerun of the year, and Alvaro Rubalcaba returned to the Burlington line up with a dinger.
Burlington scored their first run in the second inning. Spencer Griffin led off with a ground single to left, moved to second on a ground out, moved to third on a fly ball and scored on a wild pitch. Bees up 1-0.
In third Burlington sent ten batters to the plate. Jordyn Adams started it with a walk. He scored on the first of Maitan's triples. An out later D. C. Arendas walked. Griffin walked. Francisco Del Valle walked. Olmeda lined a single to right scoring two. First and third. Jones singled, scoring Del Valle with the fifth run of the frame. Bees up 6-0.
Rubalcaba, who joined the team for the first time this season on Monday, hit a leadoff homer in the sixth inning. An out later, Maitan mashed his second triple. Nonie Williams drove him home with a line drive single to left. Bees up 8-1.
Jones homered in the seventh. Adams scored in the eighth on a Williams sacrifice fly.
Robinson Pina gave up three runs on four hits, while earning his fourth win of the year. He threw four and two thirds innings of relief.
There are thirteen games left in the first half of the season. Burlington is in second place in the standings.
