Bees Can't Top Rainiers

Salt Lake Bees News Release

The Bees rally attempt falls short as they strand the potential tying runs in the ninth, as the Tacoma Rainiers hold on for a 7-5 win over Salt Lake on Tuesday night. Trailing by two, Hank Conger led off the bottom of the ninth with a walk. Pinch-runner Nick Gorneault advanced to third on a double by Mark Trumbo. Tacoma reliever Scott Patterson then got Michael Ryan to fly out, caught Robb Quinlan looking and induced Drew Meyer to ground out to end the game.

Sean O'Sullivan (5-5) took the loss, as he allowed two runs on five hits in three innings with four strikeouts and one walk. Meyer led the Bees with four hits and three runs batted in, while Peter Bourjos had three hits, including his league leading eleventh triple, and one RBI. The loss drops the Bees five full games behind Tacoma in the Pacific Northern Division standings.
