Beck's Walk-Off Single Helps Riders Bury Sod Poodles

FRISCO, Texas - Preston Beck delivered a walk-off single in the bottom of the ninth to vault the Riders past the Amarillo Sod Poodles 5-4 Thursday night at Dr Pepper Ballpark.


* Beck's single came with two outs in the ninth, countering Amarillo's game-tying run in the top of the inning.

* After falling behind 3-0 early, the Riders tied the game with three runs in the bottom of the third and took the lead on a RBI single from Andretty Cordero in the fifth.


* Juremi Profar: 3-for-5, 2B

* Michael De Leon: 2-for-5, 2 RBI, R

* Joe Palumbo: 5 IP, 5 H, 3 R (1 ER), 1 BB, 6 K

* James Jones: 2 IP, 1 H, 0 ER, 0 BB, 4 K


* Beck gave the Riders their third walk-off win of the season. He had three walk-off hits last year.

* Juremi Profar recorded his fifth three-hit game in the last 12 contests.

* Thursday's game was the first-ever meeting between the Riders and the Sod Poodles, the Texas League's newest franchise.
