Beauchemin Shuts Out Falcons 4-0; Condors Advance to Round Two Against Alaska

Bakersfield Condors News Release
BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - Rejean Beauchemin stopped all 32 shots he faced to lead the Bakersfield Condors past the Fresno Falcons in Game 6 of the National Conference Quarterfinals, 4-0, Thursday night, in front of 6,380 at Rabobank Arena. The win clinched the series, 4-2, and sends Bakersfield into the second round against Alaska, with the first game Monday night at 8:15 p.m. (PDT) in Anchorage. Beauchemin's shutout was the first recorded by a Condors goaltender in team history.
The Condors controlled the play for much of the first period, and David Kudelka put Bakersfield on top late in the session when he blasted a slapshot through Ryan MacDonald off a pass from Alexandre Bolduc to make it 1-0 at 15:30.
Early in the second period, the Falcons had multiple power play chances and failed to cash in. Then midway through the stanza, Bakersfield had a golden opportunity with a two-man advantage for over a minute and a half, and consecutive power plays totaling over five and a half minutes.
Late in the second, Fresno had another power play, but it was Bakersfield getting the goal, as Andrew Ianiero scored shorthanded to make it 2-0. Bolduc didn't get an official assist, but caused Cory Murphy to crash into MacDonald, which gave Ianiero an open net to shoot at.
Bolduc increased the lead to 3-0 just 2:22 into the third, when he rifled a puck from the corner past a stunned MacDonald, who had cleared the puck there and then couldn't get back into his crease in time to make a play on the shot.
Reagan Leslie sealed it with 4:02 left, when he took a centering feed from Mike Hofstrand and buried it.
All that was left was for Beauchemin to get his shutout, and he and the defense made sure of that, bottling up Fresno for the remainder of the game.
Notes: Beauchemin's shutout was the first in Condors history. Ianiero's goal was his fifth of the postseason, tops on the Condors. The Condors lead the ECHL in total playoff attendance with 17,808 fans in three games as well as average playoff attendance at 5,936 per game.
