Bears fall to Providence in wild one 3-2

Five game misconducts in the second period followed by 22 third period shots allowed led to a 3-2 loss for HERSHEY in the second game of a five game road trip.

Providence jumped out to a 1-0 lead midway through the first period when Brad Boyes tipped home a Kevin Dallman shot from the right point in the HERSHEY zone. The BEARS would rally late in the first period when former Bruin forward Andre Savage buried a shot into the top right corner of the net against Providence Bruins netminder Hannu Toivonen. HERSHEY was outshot 14-9 in the first period but took a 1-1 tie to intermission.

No goals were scored were scored in the second period, but a fight under the stands between Jeff Finger and Providence's Jay Henderson led to five game misconducts as both teams left their benches to join the fight. Both goaltenders were ejected with game misconducts for a fight at the same time. Peter Budaj and Hannu Toivonen fought each other at center ice. The second period was suspended and played after intermission.

Cody McCormick scored a power play goal early goal in the third period to give HERSHEY a 2-1 lead, but the Bruins would outshoot the BEARS 22-4 in the final period and score two goals to win the game.

The BEARS now head to Manchester to take on the Monarchs Saturday night at Verizon Wireless Arena. Face-off is set for 7:30 p.m.
