Penguins assign forward Cam Paddock to Wheeling

WILKES-BARRE, Pa. – The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins today assigned forward Cam Paddock to their East Coast Hockey League affiliate, the Wheeling Nailers. The announcement was made by Penguins' Head Coach Michel Therrien.

Paddock, 21, has played in eight games with the Penguins this season, going scoreless with four penalty minutes.

The 6'1", 196-pound native of North Vancouver, B.C. appeared in one game with the Penguins last season, going scoreless with two penalty minutes. He was assigned to Kelowna (WHL) on October 11, 2003 and helped the Rockets to the Memorial Cup Championship.

In 62 games with Kelowna, Paddock recorded 39 points (17+22) and 86 penalty minutes. He ranked third on the team in goals, fifth in points and fifth in power-play goals (4). In the post-season, Paddock finished tied for ninth on the team in playoff scoring and was tied for the team lead with four points (1+3) in four Memorial Cup games.

In five seasons with the Rockets (1999-2004), he recorded 205 points (107+98) and 467 penalty minutes in 323 career games.

Paddock was drafted by the Pittsburgh Penguins in the fifth round (137th overall) of the 2002 NHL Entry Draft.

He is expected to be in the lineup tonight when the Nailers (4-5-0, 8 pts.; T-5th, North Division) visit the Reading Royals (2-5-0, 4 pts.; 8TH, North Division). Game time is set for 7:05 p.m. at the Sovereign Center.

The Penguins (6-4-1-1, 14 points; T-2ND, East Division) will begin a three-game road trip tonight when they visit former Penguin Eric Meloche and the Philadelphia Phantoms (7-2-0-0, 14 points; T-2ND, East Division) at 7:05 p.m. at the Wachovia Spectrum.
