Hershey Bears News Release

It's back to the future tonight as the former affiliate of the Washington Capitals meets the current affiliate as HERSHEY hosts the Portland Pirates at GIANT Center.

12 different players for HERSHEY skated for Portland last season, with tonight's game the first time that the dozen will face the Pirates since the affiliation change last April. Goaltender Frederic Cassivi also will enjoy a bit of a homecoming tonight, as a good number of his teammates last year with Cincinnati are now members of this year's Portland squad. The Pirates are in the first year of an agreement with the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim after hosting the Washington Capitals from 1993-2005.

Friday night, while Portland was winning at Albany 7-4, the BEARS stumbled and lost 5-4 in a shootout at Philadelphia. HERSHEY scored three power play goals in the club's first three chances in the first period and held a 4-1 lead after one period, but watched the Phantoms rally from three down to win. Lawrence Nycholat scored two goals and assisted on two others in the first period to earn the first four-point game by a HERSHEY skater this season.

Tickets remain for tonight's game at the GIANT Center box office, or by calling (717) 508-BEAR. The game is also being broadcast by the BEARS radio network (100.1 FM, 1490-AM) beginning with the pregame show at 6:40 p.m.
