Binghamton Senators News Release

BINGHAMTON, NY - Norfolk Admirals center Matt Cullen had a hat trick and two assists as the Admirals beat Binghamton 6-2 on Saturday night at the Broome County Veterans Memorial Arena before a crowd of 4,673.

Cullen, the brother of B-Sens center Joe Cullen, opened the game with his 14th goal of the season, and extended his points streak to seven games in the process. He also had a game-high +3 rating and scored two of his goals on Norfolk power plays.

Binghamton lost their second straight game on home ice after three consecutive victories at the Arena. The Senators also lost 6-2 last night to the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins.

Denis Hamel scored his 25th goal of the season as Binghamton got on the scoreboard early in the second period. But Norfolk responded with a pair of goals, including Cullen's second of the game.

Defenseman Brennan Evans then scored his third goal of the season for Binghamton at 7:54 of the final period. But Cullen once again responded with his third and final goal of the night.

Kelly Guard stopped 38 of 44 shots for Binghamton in the loss. Corey Crawford blocked 25 of Binghamton's 27 attempts.

Norfolk converted on three of 10 power-play chances while holding Binghamton to only one power-play goal in eight tries.

The Sens return to action next Friday against Albany in game number one of five straight away from home.
