Baysox to host fifth annual Tribute to the Negro Leagues Saturday

The Bowie Baysox, Class "AA" Affiliate of the Baltimore Orioles will honor the history of baseball with their 5th annual Tribute to the Negro Leagues as the Baysox take on the Binghamton Mets this Saturday, June 10th at 7:05 pm. This annual tribute will feature appearances by former Negro League players who will be on hand to meet fans and sign free autographs for a limited time during the game. Players that are scheduled to appear include:
* James Tillman - Homestead Grays (1941-42)
* Bert Simmons - Baltimore Elite Giants (1950)
* Joe Durham - Chicago American Giants (Early 1950's) and the 2nd ever African
American Player to play for the Baltimore Orioles
* William "Sonny" Randall - Homestead Grays (1948)
* Al Burrows - NY Black Yankees (1954) & Indianapolis Clowns (1955-1962)
* Luther Atkinson - Satchel Paige All-Stars
* Jimmy Bland - Indianapolis Clowns
These players will be honored in ceremonies prior to the game and then will be available to meet and greet with and receive autographs from during the game.
Baysox players will wear replica Kansas City Monarchs jerseys during the game as a tribute to the Negro Leagues. Those jerseys will be auctioned off during the game with a portion of the proceeds to benefit former Negro League Players. Following the game, winning bidders will meet the Baysox player wearing the jersey that they won in the auction and will receive the jersey right off of the players back on the field following the game.
Also, the first 1,500 fans attending the Negro League Tribute game on Saturday, will receive a free replica Kansas City Monarchs baseball cap courtesy of Dietz & Watson, the sponsor of the 5th Annual Negro League Tribute.
