Urgelles joins Fisher Cats, Miller lands on DL

New Hampshire Fisher Cats News Release


Manchester, NH- C Jeff Urgelles was added to the Fisher Cats roster today from extended spring training and OF Tony Miller was placed on the disabled list with a wrist injury.

The 24-year-old Urgelles has not yet played a game during the 2006 season as he was spending time at Toronto's extended spring training in Dunedin, Florida. He spent the past three seasons with the Cincinnati Reds organization after getting selected in the 26th round of the 2003 draft out of Savannah State University by Cincinnati. He was acquired by the Blue Jays this past off-season. Last year, he played 63 games with High-A Sarasota and hit .223 with two home runs and 23 RBI.

The 25-year-old Miller hurt his wrist while diving for a ball June 4 in Altoona. He was hitting .333 with five RBI in nine games with the Fisher Cats since joining the team in trade May 25. He has drawn 12 walks and scored seven runs in those nine games with New Hampshire. He began this season with Triple-A Colorado Springs of the Rockies organization, hitting .143 with one RBI and eight walks in 22 games. He was originally selected by the Rockies in the 10th round of the 2001 draft out of Toledo.

The Fisher Cats game against the Erie SeaWolves (Tigers) scheduled for Wednesday night at Merchantsauto.com Stadium was postponed due to rain.
