Chesapeake Baysox News Release

(Bowie, MD) - Chris Tillman improved to 4-0 as the Baysox completed a three-game sweep of the Sea Wolves. Four Baysox pitchers combined to shut out the SeaWolves 2-0. With the win the Baysox are 23-17 and have now won nine in a row at Prince George's Stadium.

The Baysox scored both their runs in the third inning. Brian Peterson led off with a double to left-center field and moved to third when Travis Brown singled up the middle. Blake Davis singled to right to drive in Peterson and Carlos Rojas walked to load the bases. Lou Montanez drove in the final run of the game with a sacrifice fly to right, scoring Brown.

A day after the SeaWolves committed errors on two potential double-play balls in the bottom of the ninth, they played much better defensively Thursday. They turned four double plays in the game but never got going offensively.

Erie managed to load the bases against Tillman in the second inning. Jeff Frazier reached on an infield single to the hole between the shortstop and third base to lead off the inning. Dusty Ryan hit a one-out double to move Frazier to third and Danny Worth drew a two-out walk to load the bases. Tillman got out of the inning by getting Kody Kirkland to hit a groundball back to the mound. Erie only managed to put two other runners on base against Tillman, and only three more in the game.

Tillman struck out nine batters in six innings, allowing three hits and two walks. He was relieved by Ryan Keefer to start the seventh inning. Keefer retired the first five SeaWolves he faced before allowing a two-out walk to Max Leon in the eighth inning. Rommie Lewis relieved Keefer and struck out Deik Scram to end the inning. Julio Manon retired the SeaWolves in order in the ninth to record his twelfth save.

Bowie will open up a three game series with Connecticut on Friday at 7:05 p.m. RHP Kyle Schmidt (0-0, 5.40 ERA) is scheduled to pitch for the Baysox.
