Louisville Bats News Release

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The Louisville Bats took the series from the Norfolk Tides in a 3-2 win after a three-hour rain delay on Wednesday afternoon at Louisville Slugger Field. A Rafael Lopez eighth inning, two out single, was the difference as the Bats go into the off day Thursday, 15-10.

Louisville starter Robert Stephenson worked six innings, allowed two earned runs on five hits, walked four and struck out six, in a no-decision. A pair of sixth inning runs were the only two runs the Tides put on the board; one via a Xavier Avery home run and the second on a Francisco Pena single.

The Bats scored first in the third inning and moved to 13-2 when doing so. Juan Perez lined a two-out single to center, scoring Carlos Triunfel for the first run of the contest. The Bats added another in the fourth on the first of the two Lopez RBI singles.

Norfolk starter, right-hander Odrisamer Despaigne, worked five complete innings, allowing five hits, two runs, walking two and striking out a pair. He did not fair in the decision. Right-hander Chad Roe (1-1, 3.21) took the loss, giving up the deciding RBI single in the eighth.

The bullpen for the Bats shut the door as Chad Rogers pitched two scoreless innings and earned his second win of the season in relief. He has now pitch 12 innings this season and has yet to allow a run. Steve Delabar earned his third save of the season in the ninth, allowing a walk and striking out one.

The Bats will enjoy their first off day on Thursday and head to Indianapolis on Friday for the first of a 10-day, 11-game road trip. The Bats will send to the mound right-hander A.J. Morris (0-1, 2.63) on Friday while the Indians will hand the ball to Chad Kuhl (2-0, 1.31).
