INDIANAPOLIS -- First baseman Jesse Gutierrez blooped a two-run single in the top of the 10th and Louisville held on for a 9-6 win over Indianapolis Sunday afternoon at Victory Field.

The Bats, who have won four of their last five contests, improve to 29-33 overall. The Indians, who have dropped four of their last five, fall to 34-28. Despite the loss, Indianapolis continues to lead the International League's West Division.

The Bats jumped into the driver's seat with three runs in their final at-bat. RF Alex Sanchez, CF Chris Denorfia and LF Andy Abad all singled before Gutierrez tapped a base knock to short right field as Sanchez and Denorfia scored. Louisville added an insurance run when Abad came plateward on a wild pitch.

The dramatic ending capped off a back-and-forth affair which featured three lead changes and three ties.

Louisville cracked the scoreboard with a run in the first. Denorfia roped a single to right field and scored on 3B Earl Snyder's triple to center.

The Indians responded with two runs in their first at-bat. CF Rajai Davis reached on an error, stole second, moved to third on 3B Joe Randa's single to left center and came plateward on a fielder's choice. LF Raul Gonzalez then bounced a single through the left side, went from first to third on RF Adam Boeve's single to left and came around to score on SS J.J. Furmaniak's double to the same spot.

The Bats reeled off the game's next four runs, plating one in the fifth and three more in the sixth. SS Jeff Bannon stole the show, clobbering an RBI double in the fifth and two-run double in the sixth.

Indianapolis answered the call with a three spot in the seventh to tie things again. The frame was highlighted by 1B Mike Edwards' RBI double and Furmaniak's run-scoring single.

The clubs then traded runs in the ninth. C Ryan Jorgensen blasted a solo home run -- a 358-foot shot to left -- for Louisville, while Edwards scored on pinch hitter Carlos Maldonado's double to right center for Indianapolis.

RHP Jake Robbins (1.2 IP, 1 H, 1 BB), the last of six Louisville pitchers, picked up the win in his first decision of the season. RHP Josh Sharpless (1.0 IP, 4 H, 3 R, 3 ER, 2 BB, 3 SO), the last of four Indianapolis hurlers, fell to 1-1 with the loss.

Neither starter -- Bats LHP Chris Michalak (6.0 IP, 9 H, 2 R, 0 ER, 1 BB, 2 SO) or Indians RHP Landon Jacobsen (5.0 IP, 6 H, 5 R, 5 ER, 1 BB, 2 SO) -- factored in the decision.

Denorfia went 3-for-5 with three runs to lead Louisville. Sanchez, Gutierrez and Bannon added two hits apiece, while Gutierrez and Bannon also registered three RBI each.

Randa, Gonzalez and Furmaniak paced Indianapolis with three base knocks apiece, while Davis managed two. Furmaniak and Edwards also chipped in with two RBI each.

Randa, who has played in 1,455 big league games, joined the Indians earlier in the day on a Major League rehab assignment.

The two teams wrap up their four-game series Monday evening at 7 p.m. RHP Jason Roach is scheduled to start for Indianapolis, while RHP Mike Burns is expected to get the nod for Louisville.

The game will be carried by ESPN-950 AM and IndyIndians.com as Howard Kellman and Scott McCauley have the call. Monday's pre-game show begins at 6:40 p.m.
