TODAY'S GAME: The third of a four game series and the third of eight meetings with the Red Sox, the third of four at McCoy Stadium. Richmond is 0-2. Game seven of an eight game road trip. Richmond is 2-4. The Braves were 2-6 vs. the Red Sox last season, 1-3 at McCoy Stadium. This is the 27th of 48 games vs. North Division opponents, Richmond is 10-16 vs. the North Division. The 11th of 24 road games vs. North Division opponents (Richmond is 1-9). The Braves are 325-326 all- time vs. Pawtucket. The Braves are third in the South, 17.5 and a half games behind first place Charlotte. The Red Sox are fifth in the North, 8.5 games off the lead.

LAST NIGHT'S GAME: The Red Sox beat the Braves 8-5 Saturday at McCoy Stadium. The Sox smacked three home runs to beat the Braves for the second straight night. The Sox took a 1-0 lead in the second on an RBI infield single by Adam Stern. Pawtucket pushed their lead to 3-0 in the third on an RBI single by Rodney Nye and a run scoring double by Alejandro Machado. David Murphy smashed a home run in the fourth to give the Sox a 4-0 lead. Richmond got on the board on Jamal Strong's fifth inning sacrifice fly. Jeff Bailey homered in the bottom half to give the Sox a 5-1 advantage. In the sixth Cesar Crespo chased a run home with a single to make it 5-2. The Braves erupted for three runs in the seventh to tie the game at five. Carlos Mendez doubled a run home. Michael Ryan's double plated two runs. The Sox answered in the home half on a three run homer by Stern. Former R-Brave Brad Baker picked up the win. Jonathan Johnson took the loss. Mendez and Crespo had two hits for the Braves. Ken Huckaby had three hits for the PawSox.

B. PENA RETURNS: Atlanta has optioned C Brayan Pena back to Richmond. Pena played in 11 games with Atlanta, hitting .321 with 1 HR and 3 RBI. To make room for Pena, Richmond sent INF Jamie Trejo back to Class-A Myrtle Beach. Trejo was 1-3 in one game with the Braves. The active roster is now 24 (12 pitchers. three catchers, five infielders, and four outfielders). The Braves have made 63 roster moves this season. Five current R-Braves have seen action with Atlanta this season (Brayan Pena, Tony Pena, Lance Cormier, Chuck James, and Peter Moylan). 11 R-Braves have earned big league callups this season.

CRUNCHING NUMBERS: Scott Thorman's 11 game hitting streak (a club season high) ended last night. Carlos Mendez has four straight multiple hit games (9-18 .500). Bill McCarthy has hits in 11 straight starts. Martin Prado has hits in five straight games (9-21 .429). RHP Phil Stockman has worked his last 18 innings in nine appearances without allowing a run while permitting just four hits. Will Startup allowed his first Triple-A run last night after four straight scoreless outings.

ON THE LEADER BOARD: Scott Thorman is ninth in the league in hitting (.309). He is second in home runs (14) and tied for sixth in RBI (39). He has the IL lead in hits (72). Thorman is third in slugging percentage (.554). He is tied for fourth in the IL in extra base hits with 27. The Braves are second in the IL in stolen base percentage behind Charlotte. They have swiped 47 and have been caught 15 times (75.8%). Their 15 caught stealings is the fewest in the IL. The Braves four wins when trailing after eight innings is tops in the International League. The Braves seven shutouts is tied for third in the IL. The Braves are fourth in fielding percentage.

CROWDED DL: Three Braves are currently on the Disabled List: 3B Wes Timmons (hitting .316 when he fractured a thumb May 16), 2B Martin Prado (hitting .429 when he pulled a hamstring last Sunday), and RHP Anthony Lerew (lower back strain).
