Pawtucket, RI - The Pawtucket Red Sox beat the Richmond Braves 5-2 Sunday at McCoy Stadium. The Red Sox erupted for four runs in the eighth time to beat the Braves for the third straight time.
The Sox struck first on a David Murphy sacrifice fly in the third. The Braves tied the game in the sixth on a double play ground ball. In the eighth an RBI double by Scott Thorman gave Richmond a 2-1 lead. Pawtucket moved out in front to stay in the home half on a three run homer by Murphy. The Sox added a run on an RBI single by Ken Huckaby.
Craig Hansen picked up the win. Jermaine Van Buren notched a save. Peter Moylan took the loss. Scott Thorman had three hits for the Braves. Adam Stern, Dustin Pedroia, and Enrique Wilson had two hits each for the Red Sox.
The Braves continue their four game series with Pawtucket Monday at 7:05. Richmond returns home Tuesday vs. Louisville.
