Bats Silenced Once Again

Rome, GA - The Hagerstown Suns shutout the Rome Braves for the second day in a row Monday morning 5-0 before 2,758 fans at State Mutual Stadium. It was the fourth straight loss for Rome and seventh straight defeat at the hands of the Suns.The Suns scored three runs in the third and as it turned out that's all the runs they would need the rest of the day. Blake Kelso walked and after one out Bryce Harper reached on a bunt single moving Kelso to second. David Freitas then singled home Kelso for the 1-0 score moving Harper to third. Freitas advanced to second on the throw. Randolph Oduber proceed to groundout scoring Harper making it a 2-0 game. After two outs Jason Martinson lined a single to plate Freitas giving the Suns a 3-0 lead. Hagerstown would score single runs in the fourth and eighth innings for the 5-0 win.

This was the fourth time this season Rome has been shutout with three of the four games at the hands of Hagerstown pitching.Chris McKenzie (2-3) gets the win while Rome's Tyler Hess (0-2) is hit with the loss.
