Louisville Bats News Release
LOUISVILLE, Ky.- The Louisville Bats (52-55) lefty Brandon Finnegan, acquired from the Kansas City Royals in the Johnny Cueto trade, did not get a decision after he threw three innings and struck out four in his Bats debut against the Charlotte Knights (59-48).
The Bats took the lead on a sixth inning home run off the bat of Josh Satin. Jose De la Torre came on in relief of Drew Hayes and earned the save pitching three scoreless innings to close out the game.
A solo homer from Knights center fielder Trace Thompson gave Charlotte an early 1-0 lead in the first. A RBI double from Justin Sellers extended the Knights lead in the third, 2-0. Designated hitter Brennan Boesch put the Bats on the board and brought the Bats within one with a single to left bringing home Ryan LaMarre.
Left-hander Finnegan was relieved in the third inning by Hayes after giving up four hits, two earned runs and one home run in his debut. Hayes (W, 4-2, 2.79) grabbed the win for the Bats throwing three innings.
Righty Kyle Drabek went six innings (L, 5-6, 2.71) giving up seven hits, three earned runs, one walk, three strikeouts and one home run.
The Bats begin a three-game series against Toledo at Louisville Slugger Field at 7:05 p.m. Projected to take the mound for the Bats is righty Donn Roach (0-1, 5.91) and righty Tim Melville (4-9, 5.06) for Toledo.
