Bats Go Silent in Shutout Loss
July 14, 2019 - Northwoods League (Northwoods)
Fond du Lac Dock Spiders News Release
FOND DU LAC, WI-- The Fond du Lac Dock Spiders (5-7) and the Green Bay Booyah (9-3) go down to the wire yet again. The Booyah would best the Dock Spiders 2-0 in a total pitchers duel.
Aaron Funk (Arkansas Little-Rock) got the ball and ran into trouble right out the gates as he threw over 30 pitches in the first inning. But the Booyah couldn't produce a run.
After that Funk settled in and pitched shutout baseball before handing it off to the bullpen. River Carbone (Arizona Christian) came in and gave up the first run of the game on a sacrifice fly in the eighth.
The Dock Spiders offense was silent once again. They would only manufacture one hit against the Booyah starter. Three hits in the entire game.
Sam Novitske (Oregon) would get two of the only three hits for the Dock Spiders. That was the only high point of the game for them.
They would load the bases up in the ninth for one last shot to score two runs to tie it up. Zack Prajzner (Notre Dame) would line out to second base and they would double off a runner to end it.
The Dock Spiders have now lost four straight. They luckily head into the all-star break to get refreshed and try and turn it around.
Next game is Thursday, July 18 in Green Bay for a 7:05 PM CST first pitch.
