Mallards and Rafters Return to Duck Pond for Game Two

MADISON, Wis. - Last night the Madison Mallards (31-16) were shut down by the Wisconsin Rapids Rafters (30-17) raging offense. The Rafters consistently swung the bats to triumph over the Mallards, 12-5.

The defeat marked the Mallards 16 loss of the season overall, their fifth loss of the second half. Madison now ranks third in the Great Lakes West division for the second half, currently sitting one game behind the second place Rafters and two games behind the first place Green Bay Booyah (23-24).

Tonight, the Mallards and Rafters will return to the Duck Pond to close out their series. Madison has the opportunity to split the series with a victory. The record between the two teams is currently 4-3, in favor of the Rafters.

The arm starting on the mound tonight for Madison is Trevor Marreel (Washburn). Marreel is making his sixth start of the season, his tenth overall appearance on the bump. He has pitched over 27.2 innings, striking out 24 and allowing only 15 walks. He holds a 3-1 record and a 3.57 ERA.
