
Bastardo Dazzles in 7-3 Win

LAKEWOOD, NJ-Antonio Bastardo did not allow an earned run over 6.2 innings of work and Lakewood topped West Virginia 7-1 on Thursday at FirstEnergy Park.
Lakewood has taken games two and three of the four- game set after dropping the opener on Tuesday night.
Bastardo (6-0) has won six of his first eight starts, and Lakewood has won each of the eight games. The lefty walked three and struck out five and the only run against him was unearned. He shut down the league's best offense in the process.
He has not allowed an earned run in four of his first eight starts and two earned in the other four.
Gus Milner provided the offense, blasting his seventh HR of the season in the first inning off of Alex Periard (5-2), driving in the game's first three on one swing. Milner would score on Tuffy Gosewisch's RBI single in the 4th to put the BlueClaws up 4-0.
Milner overall was 2-3 with a walk, while Adrian Cardenas was 2-4 for the BlueClaws.
West Virginia's only run came in the 7th when Charlie Yarbrough made an error as part of a rundown with runners on first and third allowing Steve Chapman to score.
The BlueClaws go for three of four on Friday night at 7:05. RHP Carlos Monasterios (8-6, 4.88) goes for Lakewood against West Virginia LHP Mike Ramlow (4- 4, 6.50).
