
Barth Breaks Another Record as Rox Beat Bucks

St. Cloud, MN - After breaking the Rox single-season records for hits and runs on Tuesday, Jordan Barth (Augustana) broke the doubles record with 23 as St. Cloud (38-22) beat Waterloo (30-32) by a score of 11-2. With the win, the Rox eclipsed their win total from the 2018 season and have won 15 of their last 19 games.
The Rox scored first in the first inning as Jack Kelly (Minnesota) and Freddy Achecar (Georgetown) both had RBI singles. They claimed an early 3-0 lead.
Achecar was back at it in the third inning, hitting a single up the middle that scored Kelly. In the next at-bat, Parker Smejkal (Nebraska-Omaha) double to the gap in left field and scored Achecar. The Rox led 5-1.
St. Cloud later exploded for five runs in the sixth inning, nearly hitting through their lineup. Daniel Montgomery Jr. (Southwestern) blasted a double off the center field wall and scored Smejkal. Later in the inning, Gus Steiger (South Dakota State) scored Montgomery on a hit and run to right field. Ben Carew (Kent State) scored on a wild pitch and Barth scored on a Kelly groundout.
In the eighth inning, Montgomery scored Achecar on a base hit to go ahead 11-2.
Blake Flint (St. Cloud State) earned the win after six innings pitched and giving up one run. Zach Lauzon (Concordia-St. Paul), Joey Stock (St. John's) and Drew Garrett (Johnson County CC) all threw one inning out of the bullpen.

St. Cloud is home on Friday, August 2nd against the Willmar Stingers at 7:05 p.m. It's the first-ever Noisemaker Night promotion to help support the catholic charities of St. Cloud. It's also a Friday Night Fireworks, presented by CLA and Coborn's.
