San Jose Barracuda News Release
SAN JOSE - The San Jose Barracuda (@SJBarracuda), proud American Hockey League (@TheAHL) affiliate of the NHL's San Jose Sharks (@SanJoseSharks), and General Manager Joe Will announced today that the team has signed forward Ivan Kosorenkov (KOS-or-en-KOV) to an AHL contract. Per club policy, terms of the deals were not disclosed.
"In 2016-17, as an 18-year-old, Ivan finished second in the QMJHL among rookie forwards in scoring (34 goals, 29 assists), only behind the #1 pick in the NHL draft Nico Hischier," said Will. In 2017-18, Ivan ranked seventh in the QMJHL in overall scoring (36 goals, 46 assists). Our scouts identified him as a goal scoring wing and we're excited for him to join our organization".
In total over his two years in the QMJHL with the Victoriaville Tigres (@TigresVicto), Ivan skated in 131 games and collected 145 points (70 goals, 75 assists), 86 penalty minutes and a plus-44 rating. In addition, he skated in 18 playoff games, totaling 20 points (six goals, 14 assists), 18 penalty minutes and a plus-three rating. Kosorenkov led the Tigres in 2017-18 in helpers (46) and finished second in points (82).
"We are excited to have Ivan develop in the Worcester Railers organization, given our long standing relationship with the city, team President Mike Myers, former Barracuda broadcaster Eric Lindquist, and General Manager Jamie Russell," said Will. "We know he's in good hands."
In his first year of pro hockey, Kosorenkov has recorded two goals in six games this season with the Worcester Railers (@RailersHC) of the ECHL (@ECHL).
The Mytishchi, Russia native is expected to stay with the Railers until the foreseeable future.
