Additionally, the Capitals have re-assigned defender Jonas Siegenthaler to Hershey. The announcements were made by Washington senior vice president and general manager Brian MacLellan.
Samsonov, 21, has been recalled to Washington for the first time in his career. The goaltender was selected by Washington in the first round, 22nd overall, in the 2015 NHL Draft. In his rookie season in North America, the netminder has appeared in eight games with Hershey, posting a 3-5-0 record with a 3.73 goals against average and a .875 save percentage. The native of Zurich, Switzerland had two assists in 14 games this season with the Chocolate and White.
