Schaefer Picks Up First Victory
Barons netminder Nolan Schaefer picked up his first victory on NHL ice last night in his first NHL game. Schaefer stepped in halfway through the second after Sharks goaltender Vesa Toskala tweaked his groin. He surrendered one goal on three shots in the second, then found his stride in the third, stopping all eight shots he faced. Schaefer stopped two shots in overtime, including a pivotal save that was cleared and turned into Patrick Marleau's breakaway winner.
