Barnum Earns July Player of the Month Honors

ROSEMONT, Ill. - Chicago Dogs All-Star first baseman Keon Barnum has been named the American Association's Player of the Month, the league announced Thursday.

To cap off a monster July, the honor comes ten days after Barnum was named the league's player of the week ending July 21.

In 26 games over the month, Barnum slashed a .381 batting average, a .657 slugging percentage and 1.084 OPS. Barnum mashed seven homers, six doubles, and a triple, racking up 32 RBI, 20 runs scored, and 69 total bases. As a team, the Dogs posted an 18-10 record in July.

The Tampa, Florida native is in his first season with the Dogs and leads the Association in home runs (20), slugging percentage (.650) and total bases (165). His .327 batting average also ranks seventh.

The Chicago Dogs return to Impact Field on Friday for a nine-game homestand, beginning with a three-game series against the St. Paul Saints.
