Lancaster Stormers News Release
The Lancaster Barnstormers bats produced eight runs over the final three innings on Saturday night to rally the club to an 11-6 victory over the York Revolution at Santander Stadium.
It was the first win in three tries for the Barnstormers in the second half of the season.
Luke Hughes got the barrage started in the seventh with a leadoff home run over the 37-foot wall in left field to cut the York lead to 6-4.
Edward Paredes retired the side in order from there, but in the eighth, Kevin Rivers worked out a lengthy walk off Tony Pena (0-1) with one out. Mike McDade followed with a two-run homer blasted onto the tents over the right field wall, tying the game. After Brian Cavazos-Galvez flied to deep left center, Zach Collier gave Lancaster the edge with the third homer in nine batters, a blast to right.
The Barnstormers strung together four straight singles with one out and a runner at first in the top of the ninth. Anderson Feliz picked up his third RBI of the night with an infield single. Kevin Rivers drove in Jerry Owens with a ball drilled off the right field wall. McDade picked up Lancaster's tenth run of the night with a base hit to left center. Cavazos-Galvez picked up the final run with a force play ground ball.
York was down, 2-0, early but struck for five runs off Nate Reed in the third. Telvin Nash walked and went to third on James Simmons' single to center. Wilson Valdez beat out a dribbler up the first base line to drive in Nash, and Mikey Reynolds also reached when Anderson Feliz slipped and fell on his bunt.
Eric Patterson launched a grade slam to left center for a 5-2 lead. Nash added a homer in the sixth.
Kyle Simon (3-0) worked the top of the seventh to earn the win.
The rubber game of the series will be played Sunday at 5:00. Lancaster will send right-hander Bryan Woodall (1-4) against York lefty Rommie Lewis (4-0). Fans may tune into 1390-AM, WLAN; rumba1390.com or the I Heart Radio cell phone app, beginning at 4:45.
