
Longballs Lift Long Island to Win over Patriots

(Bridgewater, N.J., July 11, 2015) - The Long Island Ducks defeated the Somerset Patriots 4-3 on Saturday night in the second game of a three-game series at TD Bank Ballpark.
The Ducks got on the board in the first inning when Somerset starter Mickey Storey's wild pitch plated Bryan Sabatella from third base. Somerset tied the game 1-1 in the second on Nate Spears' RBI single off of Ducks starter Bobby Blevins.
Long Island was able to retake the lead with three runs in the fourth. Reegie Corona's solo homer and Cody Puckett's two-run shot accounted for the scoring. Somerset made it 4-2 in the sixth on a RBI single from Vinny Zarrillo. The Patriots cut the lead to 4-3 in the eighth thanks to Michael Burgess' RBI double off of Amalio Diaz. Ryan Kussmaul worked around a leadoff single in the ninth to give the Ducks the victory.
Blevins (1-0) earned the win for Long Island, tossing six innings and allowing two runs on six hits. He walked none and struck out six. Mickey Storey (4-1) suffered the loss for Somerset, allowing four runs on six hits across six innings while walking none and striking out three. Bruce Kern pitched a scoreless seventh inning for Long Island, while Kussmaul notched his 21st save of the season.
Sabatella and Randy Ruiz each had a pair of hits for the Ducks, accompanied by the homers from Corona and Puckett.
The Ducks complete their series with Somerset on Sunday evening. Game time is slated for 5:05 p.m. at TD Bank Ballpark. Righty Billy Buckner toes the rubber for the Ducks against Patriots right-hander Randy Boone. Fans can follow all of the action live on the Ducks' official YouTube channel.
Long Island returns home on Friday, July 17 to open up another three-game set against the Patriots. First pitch is scheduled for 6:35 p.m., with the Bethpage Ballpark gates opening at 5:35 (5:20 for full season ticket holders). The first 1,500 fans in attendance will receive Ducks Logo T-Shirts, courtesy of the YMCA of Long Island. It will also be a Fowl Pole, Pizza Hut K-Man and Air Trampoline Sports Friday at the ballpark.
