The Revs took the field on Saturday night looking to improve their record to 2-0 in the second half in front of a crowd of a 5,946 on Ag and Farm night at Santander Stadium.

Matt Neil took the hill for the Revs, hoping to build on last night's walk-off victory, and turned in a solid effort, going five innings and only allowing three runs (two earned) while striking out five. Neil gave up two runs in the first but settled down after that, exiting after five innings with a 5-3 lead.

The Revs countered after Lancaster's two-run first inning to start the game, and jumped on Lancaster starter Nate Reed, getting an RBI infield single from Wilson Valdez and a grand slam to left by Eric Patterson in a five-run third to put York ahead 5-2.

After an RBI double by Barnstormer third baseman Anderson Feliz cut the Revs lead to 5-3 in the fifth, Telvin Nash padded that lead in the sixth, as the first baseman absolutely destroyed a pitch from Reed that traveled way over the Arch Nemesis in left for his second home run with York, extending the margin to 6-3.

The Barnstormers provided some offensive fireworks of their own against the Revs bullpen, however, as Luke Hughes homered off of Edward Paredes to slice the lead to 6-4 in the top of the seventh.

Paredes gave way to righty Tony Pena, who gave up a two run bomb to first baseman Mike McDade in the eighth, which tied the game at 6-6. Two batters later, Pena (0-1) surrendered a solo shot to Zach Collier that gave the Barnstormers the lead, in what turned out to be the game winning run.

The Barnstormers weren't done scoring though, as newly signed reliever Trevor Miller had a rough time escaping the ninth. The Barnstormers batted around and scored four more runs on five hits to put the game out of reach for the Revolution.

The Revs look to bounce back in the rubber game of the series on Sunday at 5 p.m., as Rommie Lewis (5-6, 3.74) goes up against Bryan Woodall (1-4, 4.23) on Yard Sale Day presented by James C. Reynolds Coldwell Banker, featuring a morning Yard Sale along Brooks Robinson Plaza. Tickets are on sale at YorkRevolution.com, (717) 801-HITS, and in-person at the Apple Chevrolet Ticket Office.

Notes: Before the game, Lewis faced off against Barnstormers reliever Chad Beck in the annual cow milking contest and lost narrowly to pass on the cow milking title over to Lancaster for the year. York's lead in the season's War of the Roses series is now 9-8. Patterson's grand slam was the first by a Revs hitter since July 9, 2014 when Patterson accomplished the feat in a game against Somerset. It was the former big leaguer's third grand slam with the Revs, tying Jose Herrera (2010-11) for the franchise's all-time record. Leadoff man Mikey Reynolds returned from injury, going 2-for-5 to extend his on-base streak to 20 consecutive games; he has now hit safely in 18 of his last 20 games including 11 multi-hit contests. The crowd of 5,946 is the largest of the season and marks the third time in the last seven openings that the Revs have drawn 5,400-plus.
